August 16. 1795.

E. Randolph presents his respectful compliments to the President; and forgot to inform him, that the balance of the money, left by Mr Dandridge has been returned to his credit in the bank; and has been and is ready to the draught of the President or him—The sum left was 350 dollars—Paid to Mr Kit 105—Balance two hundred and forty five dollars.1

On this date, Randolph informed the president: “the paper, which he requires, was yesterday sent to the two Secretaries and attorney-general. E.R. met Colo. Pickering accidentally this morning, and was told, that it was in his hands” (AL, DNA: RG 59, Miscellaneous Letters; LB, DNA: RG 59, GW’s Corespondence with His Secretaries of State).

1GW recorded in his ledger the receipt on 17 Aug. of $245 from Randolph, “left in his hands by Mr Dandridge for me,” and “a Rect of F. Kitts for $105 which was left by Mr Dandridge with Mr Randolph” (Ledger C description begins General Ledger C, 1790–1799. Morristown National Historical Park, Morristown, N.J. description ends , 22; see also the entry for 17 Aug. in GW’s Cash Accounts, 29 Sept. 1794–17 Aug. 1797, RPJCB).
