Morris began building a new mansion at Morrisiana after he returned from Europe in 1798. Perhaps the subject of PARQUET floors came up when Morris attended a dinner at the President’s House on 6 Apr. [London, 1889], 2:424; DAB description begins Allen Johnson and Dumas Malone, eds., Dictionary of American Biography, New York, 1928–36, 20 vols. description ends ).
