Department of State, May 2d. 1808.

Sir.

I have the honor to request that you cause an advance to be made to John Martin Baker of one thousand dollars, to be paid out of the fund appropriated for the Intercourse of the United States with Foreign Nations. The said Baker to be charged accordingly & held accountable. I am &c.
