War Department, May 13, 1793. Approves payment of a bill “drawn by Israel Ludlow on William Duer 29 January 1792.”1

1Duer had served as contractor for the Army for the campaign against the Indians in the Northwest Territory in 1791, and Ludlow had acted as his agent in purchasing supplies and services on the frontier. The bill was for two hundred and fifty-five dollars and three ninetieths to be paid to John Duncan for his services as a packhorse driver during the campaign.
