Dear Sir
I send you by Mr Randolph’s boat two boxes which we have lately received.—There is some nail rod & bar iron which I had reserved, but Ben cannot carry it.—If you find you will require it before Mr R’s boats will be down again, be pleased to inform me, that I may forward it by others.

George Jefferson oversaw delivery of the nail rod & bar iron early in July, when eighty bundles of nail rod and sixteen bars of iron—one bar more than was on the bill of lading received from Philadelphia—were consigned to John Priddy for delivery to TJ at Milton (Receipt from Priddy to Gibson & Jefferson, Richmond, 3 July 1809 [Dupl in MHi; in George Jefferson’s hand, signed by Priddy; above signature: “(duplicate)”; with subjoined clarification initialed by George Jefferson; addressed: “Thomas Jefferson esqr Monticello”; endorsed by TJ as from George Jefferson]; this document or a missing covering letter of this date from George Jefferson is recorded in SJL as received from Richmond on 13 July 1809).
