From John Jay to Peter Augustus Jay, 21 April 1823

To Peter Augustus Jay

Bedford—21 April 1823—

Dear Peter

Being desirous that my address to the American Bible Society1 might come to your Hands in due Season, I herewith enclose it— I presume you will recieve it this Week, and in Time to let me know it by the Mail— It may be well to inform Genl. Clarkson, or the Secretaries2 that you have it.

We expect to recieve this week Letters from Wm. or Nancy,3 appointing a Day for the carriage to meet them at Rye— One of our Horses is lame—4 whether he will then be fit for work is somewhat uncertain— If fit, the Carriage shall be there on that Day— but if it should not then arrive, they had better not wait longer for it, but come on in the Stage— My Love to them, and to Mary & the Children— I am Dr Peter your very affte Father
