From John Adams to Abigail Smith Adams, 18 February 1799

Feb. 18. 1799

My Dearest Friend

I am grieved beyond measure at your returned indisposition: but hope it will not be long. Your sons arrival I hope will raise your Spirits and give you strength.

To Day I <[. . .]> find the Weather pleasant and must take a Walk.—Mrs Cushing hopes to see you in a month. The Court rises tomorrow. I am afraid I cannot see you so soon.

I shall have Business enough after Congress is up. Forreign affairs, Army, Navy &c &c

This Week & the next are all the Congress can sitt. We will send you some Grass seeds. Richard does very well. I will not lett Belchers place go with the other for 45£. Dr Tufts may draw for any sum he pleases in reason.

Your anxious & affectionate
