George Washington Papers

To George Washington from Josiah Starr, 22 August 1780

22d Augt 1780

Whereas Capt. Holms has for Some Months Past been unwell, and in all Probability will not be able to Serve in the field this Campaign, and he being determined to quit the Service at the close of it, induces me to think that his Leaving the Regt at this time will not be any disservice to it, he is therefore at his own request recommended to your Exellency for a Discharge. I have the honour to be your Exellencys most obedint humble Servt
