George Washington Papers

To George Washington from Stephen Moylan, 21 August 1780

21st August 1780

Dear Sir

as I have some Leisure this morning I will attempt the translation of the Governor’s letter, upon looking it over, I find it full of Compliment which requires a much more perfect Knowledge of the Spanish language, to do justice to, than I coud pretend to, there is a turn of expression, in the complimentary Stile, which cannot be given in our language, and is much more difficult than a Letter on business, but I will give you the nearest I can to the original. I am Dear Sir your most H. St

Stephen Moylan
