West Point June 28th 1780


Nothing but the most Absolute Necessity would have indused me to have troubled your Excellence at this time with a Request for my Discharge from the armey; but the Situation of my famely is Such that I must be Destitute of Every Degree of Humanity not to afford them Imediate assistance; theirfore from the most Pressing Necessity beg you would grant me my Discharge. I am Sr with all Possible Respect your Excellencies most obedt and very humble Servt
