George Washington Papers

To George Washington from Nathanael Greene, 12 April 1780

Morris Town Apl 12. 1780

Colo. Gunby now commandant of one of the Maryland brigades, demands a waggon for the conveyance of his own baggage from this command notwithstanding the full allowance to the Regiment to which he belongs. As I conceive the demand superfluous and unnecessary, I wish to know your Excellency’s pleasure. Some general plan should be adopted to govern future cases of a similar nature. I am with great respect Your Excellency’s Most Obedt Servt

Nathl Greene
