Springfield Apl 7th 1780

Dear Sir,

Lieut. Wadsworth of the 5th Connecticut Regiment, having for some time been Desirous of obtaining a Discharg from the Service, and although he is an Officer that hath always servd in the Regt with Reputation and Honour, as I always beleave’d it to be best for the service to Discharge an officer when ever his Circumstances are such as to make him Discontented and not willing to Continue, for which reason I would Recommend him to Your Excellency for a dicharge from the service. I am Sir your Excellencys most Obedient Humble servt
