George Washington Papers

To George Washington from Gamaliel Bradford, 18 March 1780

Westpoint March 18th 1780

Captain Isaiah Stetson of my Regiment, who was furloughed the 20th of January last, has desired me to procure him a discharge from the service: as the situation of his affairs at home are such, it makes it impossible for him to tarry any longer; he has procured the proper certificates, & considering the present reduced situation of the Regiment, his Resignation will not be improper; although I esteem him as good an Officer, as any of his Rank. I am with the greatest respect Your Excellencys most Obedient & humble Servant.

Gaml Bradford
