George Washington Papers

To George Washington from William Hasty, 16 March 1780

West point March 16th 1780

From the large discharge of the Soldiers in the Regt and Compy to which I belong, I am induced to Request Your Excellency to grant me admission from the Service: the little prospect of Recruiting, the Men from Massachusetts State, and of consequence the small Command that Officers must take up with; are the only Reasons that I found my Desires upon.

I am with the greatest Respect, Your Excellencys most Obedient and very Hume Servt

Wm Hasty

Lt of the 11th M. R.
