To George Washington from Richard Kidder Meade, 18 August 1796

Alexandria 18th Augt 1796

Dear Sir.

Last evening I met with Mr Fitzhugh, & made inquiry of him about the character of Mr Anderson, of which he is himself totally unacquainted; but from report inform’d me, that he was well spoken of as a Man of industry & very clever at accots but rather advanc’d in years.

I have as you desir’d requested Mr Fitzhugh to get the best information he could respecting him, & to communicate it to you by letter.

I hope you compleated your journey to Philadelphia with comfort to yourself & am with pure respect & esteem Dr Sir Yr Mo. Obt Sert
