Sir,

I have the Honor herewith to enclose and transmit your Excellency an Authenticated Copy of “An Act ceding to the United States of America one Acre and three quarters of an Acre of land with the Fort and Light House thereon situate in New Castle.”1 I am with the highest Sentiments of Esteem and Respect Sir, Your Excellency’s Most obedient and most Humble Servant,

1. The enclosed act, adopted by the New Hampshire legislature on 14 Feb. 1791, ceded 1¾ acres of land, including the fort and lighthouse on New Castle Island, which guard the approach to Portsmouth, N.H. (see Alexander Hamilton to GW, 8 Jan. 1791).
