A bill drawn on you by the Treasurer of the James River Company for sixty five pounds balance of the requisitions accompanied with the account has been transmitted to me which I have the honour to enclose. 1In August 1785 GW authorized Edmund Randolph to purchase for him five shares in the James River Company, which were priced at £60 a share. GW paid £15 in 1786, £50 in 1787, and £65 on 21 June 1788. The remaining £170 he paid in 1791 (Ledger B description begins General Ledger B, 1772–1793. Library of Congress, George Washington Papers, Series 5, Financial Papers. description ends , 354).
