From Colonel Ebenezer Learned

New York, 2 May 1776. Requests an honorable discharge from the Continental army because he is “so Indisposd in Body” that he is “absolutely—Renderd unfit to serve.”1

1GW promptly approved Learned’s discharge. Learned returned to the army after Congress appointed him a brigadier general on 2 April 1777, and he served until March 1778.
