From Samuel Langdon

[Cambridge] 18 September [1775]. Certifies that Sgt. Samuel Woodward “is a Student of Harvard College in his last year & begs my Intercession that he may be discharged from his military services.”1

1Samuel Woodward, a sergeant in Capt. Nathan Fuller’s company in the Massachusetts regiment commanded by Lt. Col. William Bond, was discharged on 20 Sept. and graduated from Harvard College in 1776. Woodward again served in the Continental army from 1780 to 1783 as a surgeon’s mate.
