I wrote fully to you on the 12th June last and Addressd Copies to which be referd.

Annexd is an Invoice of such Goods as are wanted for the Estate of Colo. Custis, which please to send as there directed;1 I beg of you to be careful in the Choice as we sometimes for want of it suffer vile Impositions from the dishonesty of the Tradesmen. I am Sir, Yr Most Obedt Hble Servt

1In the enclosed invoice GW gave instructions that the goods be sent to the care of Joseph Valentine, York River. The supplies that GW ordered for the manager of the Custis plantations included 800 yards of Kendal cotton, 100 yards of Dutch blankets, 600 ells of osnaburg, 400 ells of brown rolls (coarse linen), 12 dozen broad hoes, 12 dozen narrow hoes, 2 dozen narrow axes, 6 scythes, 2 casks of nails, 20 sacks of salt, 1 dozen padlocks, 20 pounds of brown thread, and 10 pounds of shoemaker’s thread (DLC:GW). The invoice that Gildart sent with these goods is dated 17 Mar. 1760 (DLC:GW).
