Navy Department, August 17th: 1815.


The Appropriation for the Contingent Expenses of the Navy being exhausted, I have the honour to request your signature to the enclosed transfer, to enable the Department to meet the current expenses under that head. I have the honour to be, Very respectfully, Your Obedient Servant. By order of the Secretary of the Navy,

In pursuance of the authority vested in the President of the United States, by the Act of Congress passed on the 3d: day of March, 1809, entitled "An Act further to amend the several Acts for the establishment of the Treasury, War, and Navy Departments”, I do hereby direct, that out of the "appropriation for the building or purchasing of Vessels, to carry not less than 8 nor more than 16 Guns each", there be applied the sum of Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to Contingent Expenses of the Navy. Given under my hand this 19th. day of August, in the Year of our Lord, 1815.
