§ From John Armstrong. 10 February 1814, War Department. “I have the honor to submit for your approbation the following appointments in the Army of the United States.”

RC and enclosure (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B-A2); letterbook copy and letterbook copy of enclosure (DNA: RG 107, LSP). RC 1 p.; in a clerk’s hand, signed by Armstrong. The enclosure (6 pp.; printed in Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends 2:492–96) listed two hundred and nine appointments, the majority of which were in the infantry and artillery. JM forwarded the list to the Senate in a message dated 16 Feb. 1814, together with Armstrong’s two letters of 3 Feb. 1814 (ibid., 2:475, 480, 492).
