I wrote last evening by a conveyance that hastly occurred to Fredg. This, an idea occurred which I have executed in the inclosed; and shall carry with me to Orange Ct. today whence I expect to find another to the post office. Yrs. affy.

According to Madison’s list of letters to TJ, this letter concerned “Mr. J’s answer to Hammond” (see Madison, Papers, description begins William T. Hutchinson, Robert A.
