Thomas Jefferson Papers

To Thomas Jefferson from Anthony Garvey, 1 February 1788

From Anthony Garvey

Rouen, 1 Feb. 1788. Encloses vouchers [concerning John Jackson]; will do whatever TJ directs for “the Poor Man in question, and who appears to be an object of Great Commiseration”; thanks TJ for his letter of 29 Nov. but fears that the money is lost “as I have Got to do with Men that have lost all Shame and honour.”

RC (MHi); 2 p.; endorsed. The enclosed papers were transmitted by TJ to Henry Knox, 6 Feb. 1788, q.v.
