Be pleased to deliver to the order of Governor Nash two thousand weight of lead, for which this shall be your warrant.
RC (Vi). On verso is a receipt, signed “A. Nash” and dated 1 Oct. 1780, for 2,000 pounds of lead received of Charles Lynch. Also in Vi is a letter from Isaac Shelby, Sullivan County [N.C.], 24 Sep. 1780, addressed “To Col. Charles Linch Lead Mines favr. Mr. E. Baker,” enclosing a resolution of the North Carolina Senate, 5 May 1780, requesting Gov. Nash to obtain the lead from Gov. Jefferson; Shelby desires the lead to be immediately delivered to Evan Baker, “as the emergency is great.”
