[Charleston, South Carolina, May 25, 1792. On June 25, 1792, Hamilton wrote to Pinckney: “I have duly received your letter of the 25th of May.” Letter not found.]

1. Pinckney, who had served as a colonel in the First South Carolina Regiment during the American Revolution and had been a member of the Constitutional Convention, was at this time practicing law in Charleston, South Carolina.
