1The architects of the spectacular new dome for the Halle au Blé; see Cadet de Vaux to BF, Oct. 19. The tickets may have been for the public celebration of the peace held at the Halle au Blé on Sunday, Dec. 14, the largest of the celebrations that took place all over the city that day. In anticipation of the crowds, the government issued orders concerning the routes by which carriages and people on foot were to arrive: Jour. de Paris, Dec. 11, 12, 14, 1783; Bachaumont, Mémoires secrets, XXIV, 78–80. BF’s own residence was illuminated on Dec. 14, at a cost of 254 l.t.: Account XXXI (XXXVIII, 3); Finck’s bill, [after Jan. 1, 1784]. APS.
