5. Hunt, who was related to Matthew Ridley by marriage, had dined with BF in February: XXXIX, 136. He sailed to America on the General Washington at the end of the summer to settle some of Ridley’s business affairs: Morris Papers, VIII, 313–14; IX, 469.
