From Abigail Smith Adams to William Smith, 1799

[ca. 1799]

Dear sir

I wrote you this week, but not hearing from you, as the Letter went by a transient person I fear you did not get it. I wisht to know what day this week you proposed to come up, as I would send in James with the carriage to bring up your young family. I can also accommodate you with two Beds, so that you need not be anxious about sleeping in your House untill it is quite in order. I have half a dozen Windsor chairs and a Mahogony Table dinning table at your service.

The President request the favour of yours and Mrs Smith Company to eat Chowder at the castle on wedensday next, where we propose to go with some of our Quincy Friends and Neighbours. we hope you will be one of us, before then. we will endeavour to make every thing here as agreable to mrs Smith as we possibly can.

your Affectly

A Adams—
